Screencast: Add Audio Closed Captioning in Articulate Storyline 3 or 360

April 5, 2017

Yesterday, Articulate announced the release of Articulate Storyline 3, which is huge for all of those folks who were a bit saddened by the release of Articulate 360. Now, you can choose to purchase a stand-alone, perpetual license of Storyline 3 – Hooray!!!

One of the most exciting new features in Storyline 3/360 is the addition of closed captioning import capabilities. Today, I show you how to add closed captioning to your audio files in Storyline 3, and a huge shoutout to VoiceBase, because they were the great folks who provided my caption file (for free – check them out).

Check out the screencast below!

Screencast: Ways to Use the Audio Editor in Articulate Storyline

April 3, 2017

Today’s screencast is focusing on ways to use the audio editor in Articulate Storyline; the demonstration is in Articulate Storyline 360; however, I don’t touch on anything specific to 360, so if you’re using Storyline 1 or 2, this will still be relevant.

Check out the demonstration, below!

Screencast Throwback: Specify AutoRecovery Parameters in Articulate Storyline

April 2, 2017

Today I’m talking data loss…something most of us have likely experienced, and something I know I have certainly cried over.

Storyline 2 and Storyline 360 have an AutoRecovery function (sorry Storyline 1 users), and it has saved my butt on many an occasion. By default, the functionality is turned on/selected, but it’s always a good best practice to quickly check the Storyline Options when you begin a new project, and adjust the save time to your liking.

Screencast: Loop Audio (or Video) in Articulate Storyline

April 1, 2017

Hey folks! I’m back with another month of screencasting. February’s screencasts were a huge success,   so much so that I thought I’d do it again.

During the months of screencasts, weekends will include throwback videos; however, as today is the first day of the month, I’ll kick things off with a new screencast. In this demo, I’m showing you how you can easily loop audio (or video) in Articulate Storyline. It’s super easy, but something people are always asking about.

If you’re interested, check out the demo below!

Screencast: Custom Menu in Articulate Storyline 360

March 12, 2017

I was browsing around on Pinterest and came across this Filter Menu. I thought it was a pretty neat interactive menu developed for web, and wanted to see how easily I could recreate it in Articulate Storyline 360. The verdict? It was pretty easy! If you want to see how I created the menu, check out the screencast below (and endure my rambling).

Screencast: Sync Audio With Animations Using Cue Points in Articulate Storyline

March 8, 2017

I already showed you how to use cue points and your timeline to easily synchronize animations in Storyline, so today I’m going to show you how you can use the same cue point functionality, paired with the audio play controls on the timeline, to synchronize animations with audio tracks in Storyline. Check out the video below!
