Screencast: Link to Scene Functionality in Articulate Storyline

May 2, 2017

As I mentioned in the previous post, Screencast April was a bit of a flop, but I’m determined to redeem myself.

Today I’m sharing a great time-saving tip in Articulate Storyline, and if you work with many scenes per project, you will likely appreciate this one!

100+ Free Stock Photos for Use in E-Learning!

April 24, 2017

Screencast April has been a bit of a flop, but for good reason – business has been booming! I know that’s not the best excuse when it comes to blogging, but hopefully I can redeem myself with this post.

100+ Free Stock Photos for Use in E-learning

Instructional Designers and E-Learning Developers are always looking for high-quality stock photos they can use use within their e-learning development.

I’m one of those folks too! What I thought I would do is put together a FREE download of 100+ stock photos that you can use in a variety of e-learning contexts.

All of these photos have been carefully sought out by yours truly, and used within many personal projects. Within this photo set, you’ll find photos organized under several categories: Backgrounds, Business, Devices, People, Urban, and Workspaces.

Enjoy! And if you’d like to see more posts like this, let me know in the comments!

There’s also a lot of stuff going on at Sprout E-Learning. In the next month, Sprout will be releasing Articulate Storyline 2: Basics, a course that will get you up and running with Articulate Storyline 2, teaching you everything you need to know to create engaging learning experiences for any audience!

This course will be practical and video-based. You will also get access to exercise files, worksheets, and assignments. Stay tuned!

Sprout also has a FREE mini-course – Build Your E-Learning Portfolio. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you totally should. Just click through the image below!

Screencast Throwback: Interactive Tables in Articulate Storyline

April 9, 2017

This is how I created an interactive table using the timeline and states. I used this technique on a recent project, with 30-40 slide objects, and a very tedious looking Triggers Panel, but in the demonstration below, I’ve simplified it to make it a bit more manageable.

I think this technique, using the hidden and normal states for slide objects, can be used for a variety of projects, but I’m confident you can find some very tangible uses for this technique in the form of an interactive table.

If you’re interested, check out the demo below!

Throwback Screencast: Custom Menu in Articulate 360

April 8, 2017

I was browsing around on Pinterest and came across this Filter Menu. I thought it was a pretty neat interactive menu developed for web, and wanted to see how easily I could recreate it in Articulate Storyline 360. The verdict? It was pretty easy! If you want to see how I created the menu, check out the screencast below (and endure my rambling).

Screencast: Articulate Storyline 3 or Articulate Storyline 360?

April 7, 2017

*Disclaimer 1 – I still have a horrible sinus infection. I sound like garbage, and I’m sorry for making you endure that.

*Disclaimer 2 – My Articulate 360 went on the fritz this week on my MacBook Pro, so you’ll notice in the Content Library demo that it says “Subscription Required”. I do have an A360 subscription (that is working like a dream on my iMac), and Articulate’s lovely tech support is on the case tonight!

Articulate released Articulate Storyline 3 this week, the answer to many prayers for those seeking a perpetual solution to Storyline 360. In this screencast, I discuss what I think makes the case for Articulate Storyline 360 versus Storyline 3 perpetual license; I also indicate that if these are not features you require, Storyline 3 might be your best bet.
